Behavioral consulting for agencies, schools, and residential programs
Function-based, trauma-informed behavior support for people with complex needs, designed so the staff who carry it out every day can succeed. I am a Board Certified Behavior Analyst based in Concord, New Hampshire, and licensed in Vermont.
What I provide
- Functional behavior assessments that combine interviews, rating tools such as the QABF, direct observation, and data review to identify what a behavior is doing for the person.
- Behavior support plans built on that function, written in plain language, and matched to the setting and the staff who will carry them out.
- Program development for applied behavior analysis services, from intake and assessment workflows to supervision structures and data systems.
- Clinical quality review, including plan audits, implementation fidelity checks, and outcome measurement.
- School consultation, including trauma-sensitive classroom supports, staff training, and preparing paraeducators to become Registered Behavior Technicians.
- Staff and caregiver training in function-based support, de-escalation without restraint, and data collection.
- Transition and discharge planning alongside hospitals, emergency departments, and community mental health centers for people moving between levels of care.
For adults involved with the justice system or leaving secure settings, see forensic and high-risk behavioral consultation.
How I work
Every plan starts with function and context. Behavior that looks dangerous or disruptive almost always makes sense once you understand what it gets or avoids for the person and what in the environment keeps it going. I assess that carefully, I am trauma-informed in how I interpret it, and I build support around teaching better ways to meet the same need.
I also write for the people who implement the plan. A plan that only a behavior analyst can follow will not be followed on a busy shift, so I keep procedures clear, train staff to fluency, and check fidelity before deciding that a plan is not working.
I do not use restraint. I use MOTAB, a de-escalation program I developed that teaches the person intervening to manage their own behavior and techniques first, and I have never filed a restraint or seclusion report with the State of New Hampshire.
My assessments are functional and behavioral. I do not provide psychological or psychiatric diagnosis, and I coordinate with the clinicians who do.
